Attention all Friends and Family of Galatia:
The Bicentennial Committee is seeking to build on the story of our congregation. We will celebrate 200 years in 2025!
Our hope is to gather history from current and past members younger and older members as well as our family members to capture the precious memories and milestones of our church. Please share this message with family and friends connected to Galatia!
• Military Veterans:
We currently have a list of “Military Veterans of Galatia Presbyterian Church”. We are asking friends and family of veterans whose family is currently serving or has served, and has not been documented to provide information about your veteran. Pictures of your veteran will also be accepted. Information needed includes: Veteran’s name, date of birth, place of birth, date of death, place of death, burial site, war in which veteran served, dates of service, branch of service, unit or division in which veteran served, name of spouse, name of father, name of mother, and names of children.
• First Responders:
We are starting a list of “First Responders of Galatia Presbyterian Church”. We are asking friends and family of first responders whose family is currently serving or has served, to provide information about your responder. Pictures will also be accepted. Information needed includes: Responder's name, field of work, organization, position held, dates of service, awards/recognitions received.
• Brides/Grooms:
Were you a bride or groom of Galatia? Maybe your parents, grandparents, or great grandparents were married at Galatia? Help the Bicentennial Committee create a history of wedding memories. Information needed includes: Bride’s name: Groom’s name, date of marriage, minister that performed the marriage, parents of bride, parents of groom, Also include any newspaper announcement and/or picture of wedding.
• Oral History:
The committee is conducting an Oral history to bring a personal touch to the history of the church. We want to capture God’s work in and through the people of this community of faith. We also would like your input. What are your fondest memories of Galatia? We will accept any and all notes, paragraphs, and/or letters.
